Rolf Schmidt is the founder and owner of one of the oldest dive operations in the Red Sea “ Sinai Divers “.
He and his wife Petra dived the Sinai reefs for the first time 1974. They where so fascinated of the spectacular reefs and of the Sinai desert as well that they left Germany a year later and moved to the Red Sea. They organised the first regular diving tours for divers from Europe, traveling along the Sinai coast with Jeeps and VW buses.

By 1977 they had established their first small diving center in Sharm el Sheikh. Over the years Sinai Divers expended  and today there are several Dive Centers and a small 50 room Dive Resort in the South of Egypt. They also build the very first luxurious Live - aboard dive vessel  in Egypt, Ghazala I .  A second boat, Ghazala Voyager, followed a few years later.

They have been diving all over the world , Maldives, Philippines, Australia, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea , Indonesia, Cocos island and Galapagos. But diving and marine life is not their  only love. Nature as a whole is their passion. They travelled intensively with their 4x4 through all of Sinai desert, the Great Egyptian Western Desert, Australia and Africa ..
